Love is the train and I’m her engineer. Toot. Toot!”

Love Train

WRITTEN BY: CHRIS COLBY

A year ago we hitched up and pointed ourselves west

Love was all we had

And even though we’re running man, we never had to hide

Never asked you for a ticket

Never charged you for the ride

Standing on that platform

Looking down that track

Love train has left here

And I know it ain’t never coming back

Smooth tracks to Denver when doubt was setting in

I heard your voice loud and clear

“Stick ‘em up, it’s a hold-up, put everything in this sack!”

I gave you love and honesty. You never gave it back.

Standing on that platform

Looking down that track

Love train has left here

And I know it ain’t never coming back

Six-thousand tons of steel have passed you by

Please don’t wonder why

The Promised Land is a day away

But money won’t get you there

Love is this train’s fare

I made it to my destination

This train has crossed the nation

Love is the train and I’m her engineer

Standing on that platform

Looking down that track

Love train has left here

And I know it ain’t never coming back
